Job overview

Are you enthusiastic and ready for a challenge?  The team are looking for a proactive 18 week Validator Officer to support the improvement of Trust performance and Data Quality

This is an exciting opportunity to gain wide range of knowledge about the NHS and to provide a seamless pathway to patients; this includes becoming an expert in the national RTT rules (as well as other national performance targets), gaining an in-depth understanding of clinical specialties within the Trust, and also becoming familiar with the different admin processes that take place on a patient's pathway to help progress them from referral, to treatment.

As you will encounter many patient pathways in this role, we will also look to you to help identify and escalate any data quality issues.

You will then be involved in the improvements and process changes to help prevent these issues reoccurring. You will also provide support to clinical divisions, giving advice and guidance on the interpretation and implementation of national waiting times rules.

This is fixed term/secondment post until 31st March 2026.

The post can close earlier if sufficient amount of applications received.

Main duties of the job

Despite not being a patient facing or clinical role, you will have a direct impact on patients' journeys. You will work as part of a team to help ensure clinical pathways are recorded correctly, which in turn helps ensure that our patients receive the right treatment at the right time, preventing unnecessary delays.

This will involve you reading through a patient's record and analysing the available information to make decisions about the pathway, and liaising with clinical divisions to expedite the patient if necessary. You will also play an essential part in helping to ensure the trust records and reports its waiting times accurately.

We are looking for individuals who are keen and quick to learn. Individuals also need to be able to manage and prioritise high workloads to meet weekly and monthly deadlines, whilst still ensuring that information is accurately recorded, to a high level of detail. Individuals must also maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
