Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient Reception team. This role will be based at the William Harvey Hospital Ashford 

Our team are focused on service delivery and patient care and we are looking for an individual who is self motivated with a genuine desire to give gold standard care at every level.

The successful applicant will be joining a highly motivated and effective team who strive to ensure patient care is at the forefront of our service.

 

Main duties of the job

This post may support one or more team(s) (these could be Medical or non Medical staff). The focus of this role will include front line contact with members of the public, keyboard skills, data inputting and moderate use of display screen equipment.

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt with the needs of a changing service.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel, etc
Desirable criteria
  • Previous PAS experience
  • Processing of confidential information (Data Protection Regulation 2018).

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Standard/Good keyboard skills
  • Accuracy – pays attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to meet set deadlines
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues and all service users, both written and verbally
  • Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, staff, relatives and carers whilst maintain a high level of customer service
  • To remain calm under pressure
Desirable criteria
  • Use of email including updating of calendar and appointments
  • Ability to track information

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of or awareness of a range of work practices in an office setting and in dealing with customers
  • Experience of having been part of a team and in a customer focused role dealing with the public both on the telephone and in person Clerical/Administrative experience
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a busy environment
  • Previous NHS experience

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Basic numeracy & literacy
  • Educated to GCSE level with A-C grades in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
Desirable criteria
  • Customer services training.
  • Has gained or is willing to work towards NVQ 2 training
