COVID-19 Vacancy Nurse Consultant Infection Prevention / Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control

This is an exciting opportunity for an highly motivated and  experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) lead nurse to join our  friendly and dynamic  IPC team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals for a 1 year secondment / fixed term contract. As the IPC Nurse Consultant / Deputy Director of Infection Prevention you will be strategically responsible for delivering the IPC service and annual programme of work. You will lead a team of IPC  Specialist Nurses, the fit testing / PPE team  and support workers across the two acute hospital sites at Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone

The post holder will be an IPC expert practitioner with advanced clinical knowledge and leadership skills. They will work with the DIPC and the IPC team to ensure compliance with the hygiene code, national guidance and  our  COVID response. As part of the Corporate Nursing team they will also work to support the Trust with their CQC compliance and our journey to outstanding.

The post holder will be expected to build strong working relationships with colleagues throughout the Trust including Divisional teams, Estates and Facilities, Consultants, Pharmacy and Pathology teams. They will also be required to work with and build excellent working relations with external key stakeholders including Public Health England, NHSE/I, STP / ICSs and CCGs

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic:, lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
