Ward Based Pharmacy Support Worker

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Pharmacy Support Worker who enjoys variety, values teamwork, and wants to play a key role in improving patient journeys throughout their hospital stay.

Main duties of the job

Every day is different, but you will:
•    Review prescriptions and provide timely medication supplies to inpatients.
•    Prioritise urgent discharge prescriptions to help patients get home safely and efficiently.
•    Support medicines optimisation by making the best use of patients’ own medicines.
•    Recognise and safely handle controlled drugs brought in by patients.
•    Check patients own medication, ensuring they are stored, labelled, and used correctly.
•    Use a range of electronic systems confidently to keep records accurate and up to date.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We’re looking for someone who is:
•    Organised, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.
•    Confident using digital systems and completing accurate documentation.
•    An excellent communicator and a supportive team player.
•    Committed to delivering safe, high quality, patient focused care.
•    Previous experience is not essential in this role

NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services is essential for this role, candidates without this qualification will be appointed at Band 2 and will progress to Band 3 on completion of the qualification. Previous experience in dispensing is not necessary as full training will be given.
