Job overview
To work closely with the Radiology Quality manager, and the Lead Clinician in supporting the Clinical Governance strategy within the Radiology Department.
To take an active role in ensuring compliance with all Radiology regulatory requirements in relation to Radiation protection policies.
To display and promote excellent high quality radiology service provision that is compliant safe and effective .
To take responsibility for updating all Radiation Protection guidelines and policies in line with current guidance and legislation.
To work closely with the Radiation Protection Advisor and the local Radiation protection supervisors in ensuring Radiation safety is managed.
To promote and facilitate effective and timely lines of communication within the teams, building relationships with all modality leads.
To support the Quality manager in Trust Health and Safety and Risk management matters trust wide.
Main duties of the job
Be a point of contact for Radiation protection advice and compliance for the Senior Management Team, clinical and non-clinical staff.
To develop and maintain an advanced level of knowledge of work practices to ensure all staff meet the patients’ needs while following best practice, professional guidelines and national legislations or regulations.
To support the definition of common practice across all trust sites and the development of departmental policies, procedures and guidelines for users within the Radiology Department Interpret relevant national regulations/legislations, Department of Health, NHS and professional body guidance and trust policies and advise the Head of Radiology and the Senior management team on the implications of such best practice guidance.
Work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams in developing a quality assurance programme for all modalities with particular focus on managing data that is easily accessible and updated for compliance

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- DCR or BSc (Hons) in Radiography.
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate qualification in area of specialisation or in Quality Assurance and/or Radiation Protection
Experience

- Involvement in health and safety and risk management including Radiation protection
Desirable criteria
- Attendance at study days.
Knowledge and Skills

- Knowledge of a range of work procedures/policies and practices
