Job overview
Generic CAMHS support children / young people and their families where there is concern about emotional or behavioural difficulties. Assessment and therapy can be provided to children, young people, and families, where appropriate CAMHS clinicians consult with other professionals.Continuing professional development is ensured by regular clinical and managerial supervision, peer-support, and attendance at relevant courses/conferences, in line with BPS and HCPC professional requirements.
All services within CAMHS hold a strong commitment to the principles of CYP IAPT service transformation, including: Evidence-based practice. Collaboration and shared decision making with children, young people, families, and carers. Authentic participation of children, young people, families, and carers at all levels of service delivery. Rigorous outcomes monitoring and use of client feedback. Teaching, training, and supervision are available to professional colleagues across the CAMHS service and the psychological therapies structure within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
As a senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologist in our multi-disciplinary team, you will be assessing young people, delivering evidence-based therapeutic support and contributing to the overall development and provision of the service. The service is based at Haringey CAMHS, St Ann’s Hospital. However, you may be required to work at other locations of the Trusts interests, including travelling to appropriate meetings, outside of the borough, as required.Receive and offer regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinician of same discipline, and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues. Develop and deliver specialist training to others in area of clinical expertise. Contribute to the teaching of clinicians and trainees, as appropriate. Provide advice, consultation and training to staff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings, where appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As part of job planning, the staff member would be supported to carry out the following roles.Clinical/ professional supervision and appraisal of identified clinical staff.Supporting the recruitment and induction of new staff and trainees. Exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the relevant professional body and Trust policies and procedures. Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.

Essential criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent);
- Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist

- Further training in a specialized area of psychological practice through formal post- doctoral training (diploma or equivalent
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of assessment and intervention, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Skills in undertaking Quality Improvement projects and service evaluation
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Knowledge and ability to undertake clinical risk assessment and to work within safeguarding procedures.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist assessment and intervention of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of work in multidisciplinary team/multiagency contexts.
- Experience of providing supervision
- Experience of working with diverse communities and within a multi-cultural setting
