Job overview

This one-year fixed-term challenging post is open to secondment applications and will require the post holder, under limited direction, to analyse business requirements, create technical design documents, develop code test and provide on going application support. 

The post holder will be an integral member of the team responsible in providing services to meet the Trusts IT and business requirements. 

Support Senior database developer and lead the development of bespoke clinical database applications used to support the Immunity and Rare Diseases Directorate and to integrate different Trust IT systems used within the Trust. To provide technical expertise to inform the directorate on current IT solutions.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the bespoke in house Immunity and Rare Diseases database systems, and will work closely with the senior database developer, information manager, clinical leads, and the Information Management department to improve data richness and accessibility while increasing automation to reduce manual burden.

To ensure that all bespoke development is carried out in a safe and professional manner, tested and with all documentation (including software code, test plans and data, training and system manuals, planning) of sufficient quality and detail to allow for on going support and redevelopment.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree of equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Extensive experience as a Software Developer
  • Considerable experience in the design and development of software solutions
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and normalization.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining Microsoft Access applications.
Desirable criteria
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server)
  • Experience of HL7
  • SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining Microsoft Access applications
  • Possess extensive knowledge of integrating Trust systems such as ORACLE Health’s EPR
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders, including managers, clinicians, and other analysts
  • To lead on projects relating to data and databases management within the Immunity and Rare Diseases Directorate.
Desirable criteria
  • Provide training to clinical, and administrators within the information department.
  • To be aware of new IT solutions which could be utilised for future development of the Immunity and Rare Diseases Directorate databases
