Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention & Control team on a full time. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic self-motivated and innovative registered nurse with an interest for infection prevention and control.

We provide a Trust-wide Infection Prevention and Control service. This post covers across East London. The post will offer the opportunity to develop skills in diverse services which covers community physical health and mental health service.

Main duties of the job

The role requires an individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team in a very busy environment and to be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. The team base is in a central location & the post-holder will be expected to travel. Travel expenses incurred when working away from main base location is reimbursed. The post-holder will be a champion for infection prevention to inspire and motivate others, empowering them to ensure all Trust infection prevention and control policies and procedures are implemented, assuring patient safety and high quality clinical care. Main areas of responsibility include audit and surveillance, education, healthcare associated infection case review and root cause analysis, learning from incidents and supporting positive changes in clinical practice. Other key areas include project support, the provision of specialist advice to staff, patients and visitors in order to maintain a safe clean environment and prevent/control infections.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be successful in this role you must be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years' experience in a clinical setting and have an understanding of evidence-based practice. You should have a genuine interest in infection prevention and control and have an enthusiastic approach to developing and implementing new initiatives. In return, well deliver the chance for you to develop your IPC knowledge and skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

Essential criteria
  • NMC registration RGN/RMN qualification
  • Holds, or working towards a Degree
Desirable criteria
  • University qualification in Specialty Teaching/assessment/mentoring qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using infection prevention in practice
  • IPC link champion experience
  • A minimum of 2 years qualified
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant clinical experience within specialty Audit or research experience
  • Teaching and education experience
