Decontamination Manager - Band 8a
Full time - 37.5 hours per week
A vacancy has arisen for a Decontamination Manager at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust operates a BSI‑accredited service covering both its main HSDU and the Endoscopy Decontamination Unit.
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a management qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience and be eligible for membership of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences. You will have a strong and proven track record in decontamination, supported by solid experience in financial management, quality, risk management, and people management.
HSDU is a purpose‑built facility that processes surgical and other medical equipment in line with strict quality and regulatory standards. The Trust requires a focused manager with meticulous attention to detail who can maintain BSI accreditation for both the HSDU and the Endoscopy Decontamination Unit.
This is an especially exciting time to join the organisation, as we are in the early stages of assessing the long‑term future of the decontamination and endoscopy services. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and supporting the development of these long‑term plans.

Main duties of the job
The Decontamination Manager is responsible for the professional, technical, efficient and effective management of decontamination services including the sterilisation of clinical equipment and medical devices in accordance with current legislation (MDD 93/42/EEC, ISO 13485:2016).
The Decontamination Department (Hospital Sterilization & Disinfection Unit HSDU and Endoscope Decontamination Unit EDU) is responsible for providing Trust-wide decontamination services. This includes services to all theatres, endoscopy units, out-patient facilities and external contracts maintaining full documented traceability.
