Job overview

Financial Systems Officers handle a broad array of service requests across all software functionalities, including the General/Nominal, Purchase, Sales & Cash Ledgers, as well as requisitioning, capital, charitable toolkits and interfaces. The role therefore requires & rewards a wide understanding of financial operations & a dynamic approach to support the variety of specialists who use the system.

Once in post, advanced access rights to the financial system & a technician license to the service desk will be provided in order to solve requests for help, reported technical issues & configuration work. 

Main duties of the job

 The post-holder will be expected to pick up an increasing range of tickets as their experience grows, while triaging work to the rest of the team. Beyond the service desk, monthly, other periodic & ad hoc jobs are set to support the user groups & around the health of the system.

You'll focus on the functionality of the financial system, considering best practice, user experience & the efficiency of scalable solutions as the userbase grows. Data integrity, governance, operational risk management & compliance are absolutely key to success & underlie the core responsibilities of the job. You'll need to work at pace while maintaining accuracy & audit readiness, meaning time management & continuous improvement skills are highly important.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5+ GCSEs at A*-C (9-4) including Maths & English
Desirable criteria
  • Further education related to Finance, Accounting, IT, Computer Science, Operations Management or similar
  • ITSM qualification (e.g. ITIL)
  • AAT L3 or equivalent
  • Business analytics/informatics qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • IT Service Management software (helpdesk ticketing)
  • NHS Finance
  • Working with large datasets
  • Supporting mixed user groups
Desirable criteria
  • Training & Development work
  • Database/ERP/Ledger administration
  • Bookkeeping
  • Working in sprints/ Lean/ Agile / CI methodology

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Computer literacy including understanding of databases
  • Intermediate-Advanced Excel
  • Time Management & Prioritisation

  • SQL (Server) writing & interpretation
