Mersey Care has a fantastic and highly rewarding opportunity for B6 Rotational Pharmacists to join our friendly and dynamic team working across  clinical services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, organisational, and team-working skills to deliver clinical pharmacy services alongside multidisciplinary teams. You will be reliable, willing to learn, able to work on your own initiative and flexible to support the wider team. 

Previous hospital pharmacy or mental health experience is not essential. Induction and training will be provided. We welcome applications from newly registered pharmacists keen to work in secondary care or more experienced pharmacists looking for a new challenge or pharmacists seeking to gain experience or grow their expertise in mental and physical health.

Main duties of the job

This role offers a unique opportunity to undertake rotations across intermediate care physical health wards, inpatient mental health, secure and learning disabilities services.

Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to designated wards, providing specialist information and advice to all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to maximise patient pharmaceutical care.

IMPORTANT: The main departmental base is at Maghull Health Park but this post is rotational and regular work-related travel across various Mersey Care sites is required.

The role is mainly clinically focused and includes a requirement to spend at least one session per week in the dispensary to develop and maintain core competencies.

Successful applicants will be expected to support the out of hours advice only medicines advice service at a maximum rota frequency of 1 in 12, including weekend working in the dispensary between 9:30am-13:30pm.

To be actively involved in providing a seven-day medicines management service to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

To work on a rotational basis within a variety of settings, supported by the wider medicines management team.

To be responsible for delivering a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to designated wards, providing specialist information and advice to all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to maximise patient pharmaceutical care.

To participate in the dispensary and on call rota to ensure that medicines are supplied in an accurate and timely manner.

To work flexibly in line with the hours of operation.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Master of Pharmacy degree, or equivalent qualification
  • Completion of pre-registration training
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)

Knowledge/Experience
