Do you have a passion for developing others and supporting high quality patient care?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Management Team at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. You must have a keen interest in Education and Training and would like to develop your skills.

In this new role you will combine your clinical & technical knowledge to support the Education and Training Team to deliver training programmes for a range of our staff and learners. You will support the development of a range of staffing groups including Pharmacy Technicians, Accuracy Checkers, Apprentice L3 Pre-reg Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs), Apprentice L2 Pharmacy Assistants, Foundation Trainee Pharmacist (FTPs), pharmacists and other healthcare professionals as required.

You will be highly motivated and self-directed. You will be contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of training. You will provide mentoring and supervision to trainees and staff, supporting the acquisition & maintenance of their competencies in line with our Trust policies and GPhC standards. As the role is new, it will evolve with the Team; initially you will primarily work in both dispensaries (Maghull and Hollins Park) to support the development, delivery & documentation of new training plans.

Main duties of the job

You will maintain your clinical practice, participating in the dispensary with accuracy checking and dispensing, and with clinical medicines management services across the Trust. You will contribute to 7-day working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be actively involved in providing a seven-day medicines management service to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly in line with the hours of operation

The post holder will have an operational role in the education, training, professional development, management & supervision of staff in the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust’s medicines management service (the Team), supporting them to develop and maintain competencies and develop their skills & competencies

The post holder will work as part of the Education & Training Team to support the education & training workplan for the Medicines Management Team (the Team) (administration staff, pharmacy support workers, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists)

Specifically, the post holder will contribute to the education and training of Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs), pharmacy technicians and support staff.

Qualifications

  • BTEC level 3 in pharmaceutical science, or equivalent qualification Level 3 NVQ in pharmacy service skills, or equivalent qualification
  • BTEC L3 in dispensing accuracy checking Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as an accuracy checking technician
