Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Midwife to lead our Maternity Ultrasound Service. As the specialist lead, you will ensure high‑quality service provision at all times, planning and coordinating ultrasound activity to meet the needs of a busy maternity department.
In this senior role, you will be a visible, approachable and responsive leader with strong experience in patient care, staff management, service delivery and resource responsibility. Your leadership will support a positive, professional and forward‑thinking culture within the team.
You will guide the maternity ultrasound service to deliver efficient, accurate and compassionate imaging, ensuring that every patient receives exceptional care. Through your expertise, you will uphold clinical excellence, support continuous improvement and drive a safe, high‑quality service for families.
If you are an accomplished Midwife with advanced ultrasound skills and a passion for leading service development, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Ensure effective management and organisation of the midwifery ultrasound service, operating within established guidelines as required by clinical practice, directorate management, UHB administrative procedures and local, regional and nationally agreed guidelines and service frameworks.
Monitor the midwifery ultrasound service provision and performance to enable a quality, timely and comprehensive ultrasound service which is sensitive to the requirements of its users.
Consider the demands on the service and direct initiatives for improvement as required by directorate/finance.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.
