Job overview
The Urology service is currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated person to join our team to support the outpatient booking team in the delivery of key services and cancer targets within the Surgery Division.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive booking support service to consultant and junior medical staff within the service. This will include organising, planning and prioritising tasks and workload.
As a service, it is vitally important in that we provide a high quality service to patients, therefore if you are interested in joining a highly motivated team - it would be great to hear from you.
Additionally, we are looking to appoint a Scheduling clerk to become part of our busy team.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all protocols are adhered to and undertake appropriate action in necessary adhering to RTT
rules.
The post holder will plan, prioritise and organise theatre and lists, taking into account such matters as pre-assessment fitness, availability of
equipment, clinicians, case mixes, etc. You must possess the ability to adjust accordingly in line with any changes, and to manage your own workload to defined departmental policies and procedures. A manager will be available for reference when required.
Each scheduler deals with a large volume of individual theatre and clinic lists, making the appropriate allocation of patients within defined
timescales.

Main duties of the job
· Ensure cancer targets are achieved
· Ensure patients are prevented from breaching targets
· Clinic / theatre capacity is utilised and cancellations are kept to a minimum
· Regular communication with the Team Leader and Urology consultants and clinical nursing team.
· All appointments are booked within internal and national targets, including RTT and ‘Treat in Turn’
· Patient focused booking and direct patient booking are utilised to increase utilisation and reduce DNA rates
· Ensure an efficient telephone service is maintained
