Job overview
We are looking for individuals who wish to develop themselves to become a registered Pharmacy Technician- there are 2 positions available at York site and 1 position at Scarborough site.
You must be committed to working through the curriculum of online and work-based learning, have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team and be committed to providing a high-quality, patient focused service.
This is a demanding role that requires the post holder to fulfil all the requirements of working full time while undertaking the qualification. Individuals will therefore need to be highly motivated, organised, and capable of meeting multiple deadlines. We are looking for individuals who can guarantee this type of commitment over the 2 years. Workplace study time is allocated, but study will also need to be completed in your own time.
Applicants must have the following entry requirements: A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent including:
- GCSE English Grade C/ 4 or above, Scottish National 5 or above, equivalent English language evidence which can include Functional Skills Level 2*
- GCSE Maths Grade C/ 4, Scottish National 5 or above, equivalent evidence of numeracy which can include Functional Skills Level 2
- GCSE Science x1 Grade C/ 4 or above or Scottish National 5 or equivalent
*PLEASE NOTE English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is not an equivalent to GCSE English Grade C/Level 4 and does not meet the entry requirements
Main duties of the job
The role of the successful candidates will be varied and fulfilling and includes- Rotation around different areas of the pharmacy including dispensary, medicines management, procurement, quality assurance and aseptic services to develop your knowledge and skills.
You will:
- Be responsible for attending all elements of the level 3 apprenticeship training to ensure successful completion of the two-year course. Participating fully in all the learning experiences offered to you.
- Be responsible for the collection of a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence.
- Undertake any training necessary for the safe and efficient performance of duties.
- Adhere to the UEA and Trust learning agreements at all times.
- Have a professional attitude.
- Have a strong attention to detail.
- Have working knowledge of pharmacy computer systems.
- Have the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Have a flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service.
- Support the pharmacy department in the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Deliver a high-quality service to a multitude of areas throughout the Trust when working within the different pharmacy areas.
- Comply with the GPhC standards, code of conduct, Trust policies and procedures and work with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act at all times.
- Participate in weekend and bank holiday working rotas.
Occasional cross site working may be required for this role to support your training

Essential criteria
