Job overview

The Operational Manager will operationally manage the provision of Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP), Community Rehabilitation Team (CRT) and Assertive and Intensive (AI) mental health services across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire on a day-to-day basis. They will provide overall operational and developmental support as a direct report to the Associate Director of Operations, delivering agreed programmes of service development and improvement. 

The Operational Manager will lead the Care Unit clinical quality and governance agenda’s taking responsibility for the monitoring and maintenance of professional standards and clinical care within there are of responsibility. The Operational Manager will work collegially to ensure full support to the Associate Director of Operations and Clinical Director’s ensuring that services are safe, well led and of a high quality.

 

Main duties of the job

This role requires an individual with a relevant professional clinical qualification and experience in the management of people and services, to lead, direct and co-ordinate safe, effective and efficient local service to meet the needs of Adult Mental Health patients, their careers and families. 

This role has the responsibility to lead the EIP, CRT and AI Service, facilitating developments arising from local and national targets and in partnership with commissioners, Local Authorities and other stakeholders.

The post has day to day responsibility for the management of EIP, CRT and AI. The post holder has responsibility for clinical quality, to include clinical governance, audit, procedure development, education and risk issues, acting as first line support to the Associate Director of Operations, deputising as required. They will support CQC inspections and transformation work as part of the AMH senior team.

The post holder has responsibility for clinical quality, to include clinical governance, audit, procedure development, education and risk issues, acting as first line support to the Associate Director of Operations, deputising as required. They will support CQC inspections and transformation work as part of the AMH senior team. The individual will need to be highly motivated and have positive effective interpersonal and change management skills to achieve the service development agenda, within a partnership culture.  The post holder will be required to work as part of a 24 hour on call rota

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of managing people and services in either health or social care settings.
  • Significant experience of working with Mental Health operational Services
  • Experience in operational and strategic business planning. Ensuring continuity of business operations and supporting the development of strategy
  • Experience of delivering service redesign in clinical service and experience of delivering organisational change at a team/service level
  • Experience of managing and leading multi disciplinary teams in complex organisations.
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership Qualification
  • Inpatient experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to Lead, negotiate and manage conflict
  • Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Excellent verbal reasoning skills with the ability to convey complex, sensitive issues to large diverse audiences
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office Packages including email, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to develop and manage change processes

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Graduate or equivalent professional clinical qualification and experience. Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Project management training and/or relevant experience

Contractual

Essential criteria
  • To travel between locations as a significant part of the role. A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Required to undertake on call duties. The management of serious incidents may involve attending sites at any time of the day or night at short notice, having to remain in command mode for prolonged periods, exposure sure to stressful circumstances and being required to make critical decisions under pressured circumstances.
