We are looking to fill a full-time post at a Local Mental Health Team covering the City Central area of Nottinghamshire. Our core business hours are 09:00-17:00 but some flexibility can be offered.

Main duties of the job

Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills to join our existing dynamic multidisciplinary Local Mental Health Team.

The post-holder will conduct specific assessments, formulation and interventions, working collaboratively with patients, their carers/families and partnership organisations to develop creative, goal oriented, time limited occupational therapy plans.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post is both rewarding and a vital role towards the assessment and delivery of treatment to our patients in the City Central area. 

To provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service collaboratively with the patients in their own homes and local environments. Working with an assistant in the provision of intervention plans. If interested see JD/Spec for more details.  

Professional and clinical supervision will be provided by an identified Occupational Therapist.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Specialist knowledge/post registration and experience of working in a mental health setting
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrates continued professional development to maintain registration

Training

Essential criteria
  • Further specialist knowledge/post registration experience or training of specialist professional interventions and evaluations.
  • Leadership experience or training
  • Clinical educator
  • Willingness to undertake clinical practice, education, and training to enhance service delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant training to post

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Specialist clinical knowledge
  • Applied knowledge of risk assessment within field of clinical practice
  • Knowledge of National Policy and guidance.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of how mental and physical health contribute to risk assessment and support management.
  • Applied leadership knowledge.

Contractual Requirements

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working experience of assessing and managing a complex caseload with adults with profession specific needs in mental health
  • Experience of effective multi-disciplinary/agency working
  • Experience of delivering different learning and development opportunities for staff teams.
  • Experience in evaluation / audit as part of profession/multi-professional team
  • Experience of the clinical and professional development of others including students
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in community or acute mental health
  • Experience of leading / managing project work.
  • Experience of research, audit, service evaluation and/or quality improvement projects – setting up, evaluating, reporting and application
  • Identifies clinical risks and carries out MDT/ Trust Risk assessments and formulation for individuals, groups or services highlighting needs
  • Experience of collaboration across teams, services, and other stakeholders outside of the Trust
