Job overview
We are looking to recruit to a permanent position within the Trauma and Orthopaedic specialty.
These posts will be 12.5 PAs, with an on call commitment of 1 in 16 weekends and 1 in 16 weekdays.
Main duties of the job
You will join an existing team of 17 consultants, 4 ST3+ and 10 speciality doctors providing a comprehensive Orthopaedic Service to the western part of North Nottinghamshire and, in particular, the residents of the Mansfield, Ashfield and Newark Districts.
To be considered for this position you will need full registration with the General Medical Council and have MBBS or equivalent. You will have at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which is in Orthopaedics.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC.
- MRCS or equivalent
- ATLS
Desirable criteria
- Higher Orthopaedic degree or Progress towards or attainment of intercollegiate college exams
Experience
Essential criteria
- Must have completed at least four years’ full time post graduate training (or equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis) at least 12 months in Trauma & Orthopaedics; or have equivalent experience and competencies
- Experience within the specialty in the NHS
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in a multidisciplinary setting
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Active interest in teaching
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate ability as a teacher with evidence of training for the role
- Evidence of podium presentations
Management & Administrative experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload
Desirable criteria
- The potential to take lead clinician roles
- Formal Leadership training
Research
Essential criteria
- Ability to convert research evidence into clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Research evidence
Other
Essential criteria
- Communication skills - to have language competency and communication skills necessary to do the job safely
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, relatives, nurses, GP's and other agencies
- Commitment to continuing education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit
