We're looking for a safeguarding practitioner to take a leadership role within Sheffield Children’s as Named Nurse for Safeguarding (CAMHS) and PREVENT Lead. You will lead safeguarding activity across CAMHS and provide strategic oversight on PREVENT responsibilities across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

You will report to the Head of Safeguarding, and your responsibilities will include:

As Named Nurse for Safeguarding (CAMHS):

  • Lead safeguarding activity across CAMHS

  • Advise clinicians and managers on safeguarding issues

  • Ensure compliance with relevant safeguarding standards

  • Work with senior teams to strengthen safeguarding provision

  • Foster partnerships with external agencies

As PREVENT Lead:

  • Oversee Trust compliance with the Prevent responsibilities

  • Manage Prevent policies, training, and procedures

  • Represent the Trust at Prevent and Channel meetings

  • Lead Prevent reporting and training coordination

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • • RN/RMN with substantial post registration experience
  • • 1st Level degree in nursing or health related subject
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of relevant Safeguarding Children and/or Looked After Children/Young People Qualification
  • • Diploma/degree and/or experience in a CAMHS setting
  • • Master’s degree or working to towards Teaching qualification
  • • Qualification in Safeguarding Supervision

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of significant direct safeguarding children/Looked After Children experience at Band 7 or above
  • • Experience of delivering safeguarding supervision
  • • Evidence of professional leadership and proven ability to manage a team
  • • Experience of undertaking and contributing to single and multi-agency audit
  • • Experience of report writing, policy development and implementation and delivery of education programmes
  • • Evidence of effective multi-agency and partnership working
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of working within a CAMHS setting at Band 7 or above
  • • Experience of contributing to Safeguarding Reviews and subsequent action plans
  • • Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change and leading innovation in practice

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Expert knowledge of relevant legislation relating to safeguarding children, looked after children/young people and the Prevent Agenda
  • • Excellent communication skills across organisational boundaries and confidence to challenge appropriately in difficult situations
  • • Well-developed presentation skills
  • • Ability to analyse and critically evaluate information and record in a concise and accurate manner
  • • Effective organisational skills
  • • Completion of audits and reports within timescales
  • • Evidence of continuous professionals’ development
  • • Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise, work flexibly and to tight deadlines

  • • Experience of budget management
