Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Housekeeper on Huntsman 7 at the Northern General Hospital.  This vital permanent role ensures the cleanliness and organisation of the ward, contributing to patient care and comfort.  The post is fixed term for 4 months with a possibility to be extended or become permanent.

 

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have experience in housekeeping, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and high cleanliness standards.

You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills and a professional approach.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:

Diabetes and Endocrinology
Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Respiratory Medicine

All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus’ although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus’ and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 4 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths & English Grade C/4 or equivalent experience/ qualifications.
Desirable criteria
  • Clerical / IT qualification or relevant experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable ability to use a computer.
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment with the public.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a caring or hotel/catering environment
  • Manual handling, Infection control, Fire safety, Health and Safety Awareness, Food hygiene Training (can be completed once in post.)

Special skills / aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
