- An acute and out patient rotation providing you with diverse experiences including Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Elderly Rehabilitation, A&E, Stroke, Hand Therapy, Community inpatient rehabilitation and Community based therapy (site dependent)
- Excellent learning opportunities with a high level of support and supervision and appraisal from senior colleagues
- Peer support from a large group of colleagues on the rotation
- A multi-professional preceptorship programme
Main duties of the job
- Responsibilities are in clinical management of patients and relevant paperwork.
- Contribute to the continued development and maintenance of efficiency and safety in the Occupational Therapy (OT) Department.
- Be flexible at times of increased capacity to the service.
Rotation may include: - FPH – Surgery, Orthopaedic, Medical, Frailty, A&E, Acute & Hyperacute stroke, Community rehabilitation (in-patient), Community*
- WPH – Acute Medical, Older Persons Medicine, Stroke, Neuro, Orthopaedic, Surgery, ED, Palliative, Hand Therapy*
- *May be dependent on experience.
- Hours of work are determined by service need, which includes rostered 7 day working, and vary across rotations.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in OT
- HCPC registration
- Documented evidence of CPD.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and groups
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Group work skills
- Ability to manage own workload and determine priorities, relevant to acute physical hospital setting
- Be able to work under pressure
Desirable criteria
- Presentation skills
- Training and facilitation skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of work as an OT or placement as an OT student within the acute hospital setting.
- Worked (could be as a student) in some of the following areas: Acute Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Elderly Care, A&E, Neurology, Hands, Community rehab.
Desirable criteria
- Experience using of an electronic patient care system.
- Experience of research and audit.
