Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Medical Services Team.  This role involves ensuring that the Medical Service Team continue to  provide a comprehensive medical human resources services for all grades of medical staff. You will work in partnership with the HR team as well as other key stakeholders to achieve both Trust and national objectives.  You will lead the team in relation to investing in the lifelong learning and development of our medical staff.

The Medical Services Team is part of the Trust’s People Services Directorate. We provide a wide range of services to the Medical Workforce across CPFT and via an SLA to another NHS Provider Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Medical Workforce Lead on delivering the Medical Workforce agenda.  The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of an efficient and customer focussed Medical Workforce service, including Medical Education.  Additionally, work to ensure the often conflicting and changing priorities are managed effectively, to support excellence in service delivery and provide a comprehensive and effective medical human resources service the Trust, Partner organisations and stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Please refer to the attached job description and person  specification for full details:

·       The post holder will provide specialist advice to senior managers and clinical leaders with formal HR policies and Procedures associated with medical and dental staff for CPFT and for partner organisations, for example Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.

·       To support the Medical Workforce Lead with leading on the Medical Workforce agenda for the Trust, partner organisations and stakeholders.

·       To deputise for the Medical Workforce Lead as and when required.

·       Advise the Medical Director, Deputy Medical Director, Clinical Directors, Associate Clinical Directors, General and Service Managers, medical staff and HR colleagues on the application of terms and conditions of employment for medical and dental staff, ensuring compliance with the organisation’s policies and employment legislation.

·       Support the Medical Workforce team in ensuring they have the knowledge to provide advice and guidance on terms and conditions for medical and dental staff to managers, all medical and dental staff and HR colleagues.

·       To ensure the Trust has a robust process in place to ensure the implementation of any new legislation, NHS/DHSC initiatives and changes to terms and conditions for medical and dental staff takes place.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • CIPD/Post graduate diploma in HRM or Extensive professional experience in Human Resources/Medical Workforce

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working in Medical Workforce / Human Resources including experience of Maintaining High Professional Standards
  • Experience of using eSystems for medical and dental appraisals, revalidation, job planning and rostering
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading a team

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of roster and rotas for medical staff
  • Knowledge of Medical & Dental terms and conditions for all grades of doctor

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Decision making, problem solving, report writing
