Job overview
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and creative Support Worker to work in our CAMHS CORE Pathway.
We are a multi-disciplinary team offering a diverse range of professional approaches, including Family Therapy, Nursing, Occupational therapy. Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social work, and Mental health Practitioners. We work with young people with who are experiencing moderate to serve emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. As a team we believe that service user participation and feedback is an integral part of the development and delivery of services and supports care which is person centred and inclusive.
This posts is advertised as full time, but part-time hours could also be considered.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working with young people who are accessing our CAMHS (Core) Mental Health service. You will have a positive approach to the delivery of care which values working creatively and flexibly in partnership with young people, their families, and professional networks. Your role will be to deliver excellent quality care which empowers children and young people, supports them in their recovery journey and enables them to contribute towards the development of services and care planning.
As a support worker, you will be working within a clinical setting based in our out-patient clinic but also providing support to children and young people within a home, education, or community-based setting.
You will have access to regular individual and group clinical supervision, CPD opportunities within and outside of the service, and the support of a robust and supportive multidisciplinary team.
You will also be required to support the team to ensure the smooth running and organisation of the service, contributing towards research, evaluation, and service development, to ensure care is responsive, effective and equitable.

- To provide care and support to children and young people who are experiencing a range of emotional difficulties.
- To empower children and young people to support them in their recovery journey.
- To work in partnership with parents/carers to implement interventions, strategies & activities to promote children and young people’s health and emotional wellbeing.
- To use knowledge and evidence-based practice to deliver advice and support to children, young people, parents and carers
- To work flexibly across the localities, offering clinic-based work and work in the community.
- To work flexibly to support and advocate for children and young people to access the service and wider support.
- To adapt to the emotional needs of children and young people to provide interventions and approaches that are embedded in recovery models of mental health.
- To undertake school and home observations as required.
- To adhere to the Trust and Local Authority safeguarding requirements, to promote the safety and welfare of children and young people.

Person specification
Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant NVQ or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
- Education up to GCSE equivalent.
- Willingness to undertake training to meet competency framework.
Desirable criteria
- Training in mental health or neurodevelopmental conditions or their management.
- Care certificate training.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working with children and/or parents.
- Experience of working within a clinical setting.
Desirable criteria
- Working with children with additional needs.
- Experience of group work.
- Experience of parenting work.
- Lived experience of supporting a child with additional needs.
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision.
- Good verbal & non-verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative & feedback relevant information.
Desirable criteria
- Working with children/young people on a 1:1 basis.
Knowledge & Understanding
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of normal child development.
- Knowledge of some different types of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, ADHD and learning disability.
- Good understanding of behaviour management strategies.
Desirable criteria
- Working with families who are experiencing difficulties.
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to Safeguarding, SEND reforms.
Other
Essential criteria
- Willingness to be flexible in approach and attitude.
- Ability to travel across sites in the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough area.
