Job overview
DSFS Ltd are looking to appoint the right candidate into the role of a Security Team Leader, the post holder will provide a reassuring visible presence with a caring and sensitive approach. Will protect, advise, investigate, and act in an endeavour to always create and maintain a safe and crime free environment. Security staff will be compassionate, courteous, and patient, acting without fear, favour or prejudice to the rights of others.
Main duties of the job
To protect service users and staff wherever possible from the effects of crime by highlighting potential and actual situations and coordinating security services as required.
To prevent and detect crime, undertake initial enquiries, and liaise with local police and management.
To supervise and manage a small team of security officers ensuring all organisational policy and procedures are adhered to.
Prepare and disseminate daily hand over reports.
Advise, remind, and encourage staff members to develop an interest in crime prevention and protection of personal, patients and Trust property.
Keeping a record of all duties carried out each shift in a personal notebook as well as entering any untoward incidents in the daily occurrence log. Complete incident reporting using the Trusts incident reporting system when necessary.
Assist with safe operation during take-off and landing of Air Ambulance and security of same whilst on ground.
Monitor the access control systems, particular attention to break glass notifications, doors left open, faults and temporary interruptions to service.
Maintaining a highly visible deterrent by patrolling of hospital on foot and via vehicle. In doing this checking all property and land associated with the Trust is secure and free of hazards.
Supervision of duty security staff ensuring all organisational policies and procedures are adhered to.
Any other duties appropriate to the role.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the Security or Customer Service industry.
- Team Leader qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and experience of IT systems including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of security systems, such as CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and car parking systems.
- GCSE’s grade c or above in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
- Valid SIA licences in both CCTV and Frontline.
- A recognised qualification in security and or physical intervention
- Excellent knowledge or qualifications in Customer Service and Health & Safety.
- Team Leader or Management qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within a security team or customer focused service.
- Experience of supervising a team.
- Experienced in dealing with challenging behaviour including violent and aggressive situations
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working within the NHS
Skills and Knowledge

- Knowledge and experience of security systems and their operation.
- Good knowledge of security environment, the potential risks, threats and actions required to manage and reduce risks.

- Experienced in dealing with emergency situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
