Endoscopy Staff Nurse

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join our Endoscopy team in our purpose-built unit as a Staff Nurse. We are looking for a candidate with previous endoscopy experience to join our friendly and progressive team.

The Unit is JAG accredited, delivering an endoscopy service which works flexibly to cover evenings and 7 day working. This very busy department provides care for inpatients and outpatients, having a range of endoscopic procedures including upper and lower GI endoscopies, ERCP, bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy. We also provide a pre-assessment service and nurse led consent, with plans to develop an online pre-assessment service soon.

Main duties of the job

You will be a First Level RGN, who has an active registration with the NMC. A full induction programme will be provided together with a period of supernumerary support. We are fully committed to providing and maintaining high standards of care and can offer a supportive, motivated environment in which to develop your professional skills.

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills together with high standards of clinical care and an ability to put patients at ease. You should be adaptable, having the ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to improving standards of patient care.

Registered nurses on the unit have an obligation to cover the ‘out of hours’ on call service for emergencies following a period of training and will also be required to work in all areas within the unit.

Working for our organisation

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
