Main duties of the job
- To take blood specimens from patients according to the protocols, practices and standards required by Provide operating protocols, at the request of a qualified medical practitioner or other health professional.
- To undertake INR monitoring using PoCT method.
- To ensure that specimens are delivered to the correct pick-up location at the correct time.
- To maintain stocks of containers, needles etc. to enable the work to proceed efficiently.
- To keep the workplace clean and tidy.
- To know and observe procedures for high-risk patients and specimens.
- To maintain accurate records of blood tests taken within the relevant patient records if required, using a computerized record system.
- To maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning patients in accordance with the Caldicott regulations.
- To inform the Line Manager of any identified training needs.
- To participate in annual appraisal and review.
- To be fully aware of Provides Health and Safety Policies and your responsibilities within these.
