Job overview

We are recruiting for a Research and Development Facilitator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the R&D Coordinator in the approval and management procedures for clinical research undertaken at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

You will manage the annual progress reporting on clinical trials and trial status through to archiving. You will also be responsible for supporting the R&D Office team with processing amendments, organising any required research meetings, taking minutes. managing recruitment report and responsibility for reporting data to the Clinical Research Network via their database and other data capture systems.

Main duties of the job

To lead as the department’s database administrator for the EDGE system.

To manage amendment processing to meet internal and external deadlines.

To manage quality assurance of all trial related documentation in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.  

To assist with preparation for audit and inspections within assigned teams.

Organise and maintain effective data storage, data input and filling systems for all aspects of the R&D Office functions.

To act as a point of contact for any R&D Office queries from staff, external bodies or the public and to respond to or redirect these to the appropriate member of staff or R&D team as appropriate. 

To arrange meetings, book meeting rooms and organise refreshments for meetings managed by staff within the R&D Office.

Prepare and distribute agendas and papers for Committees and other relevant meetings as appropriate, in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and timescales. This should be completed in discussion with the relevant Chair.

Take and transcribe accurate minutes of formal meetings in a timely fashion.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant training courses in clinical research as Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in clinical trial administration including data management and trial management
  • Experience of working in an NHS or University setting
  • Experience of staff supervision/ management
Desirable criteria
  • Management of databases
  • Making improvements to working practice
  • Supporting the monitoring of research

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Familiar with Good Clinical Practice and other research regulatory requirement. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point, etc)

  • Knowledge of research administration databases such as EDGE
