Are you looking for an interesting and varied role? An opportunity has arisen to join the Blood Sciences Department, based in Pathology at Pilgrim Hospital as a Biomedical Assistant.
We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, self-organised and motivated individual to join our team, to help deliver laboratory services across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post is based in the Blood Sciences laboratory (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion) in Pathology at Pilgrim Hospital, and involves data entry, processing and testing/analysis of blood and urine samples using automated equipment and manual processing.
Previous clinical laboratory experience is desirable. Candidates should have good A Levels /GCSE’s in Science, English and Maths, or be able to demonstrate suitable equivalent training or experience.
You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Although supervised by Biomedical Scientists, once fully trained, you should be capable of working independently. Participation in the 24/7 shift system will be required.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
