Main duties of the job
You must be clinically highly competent and keen to contribute towards efficient service delivery in a fast-paced working environment.
Cross site rotation through Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware sites would be required depending on service needs.
Your main duties will include:
- Perform and report on a full range of ultrasound examinations including: General abdomens, gynaecology (incl, emergency gynae), small parts, hernias, vascular, paediatrics (incl. baby hips) and all forms of obstetric scans (incl. early pregnancy).
- MSK, Breast and Head & neck also desirable for applicant to have, however not essential to apply for this post.
- Provide expert clinical opinion, acting as a point of reference for colleagues.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely patient diagnosis.
- Mentor junior sonographers, radiographers, and students in their clinical development.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and health & safety regulations.
- Contribute to service development and implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Participate in clinical audits, QA programs, and service evaluation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and clinical staff in line with our World-Class Care Values.
- Supporting consultant sonographers and managers as part of this advanced Band 8a role.

- Significant experience of working at a band 7 or 8a level
- Experience of working with clinical leads in specialist areas to develop services
- Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience across majority of main areas of US including, general abdominal, gynaecology (including emergency gynae),small parts, vascular, hernias, paediatrics (including baby hips) and all forms of obstetric scans (including early pregnancy).

- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Skills of working and reporting on PACS/RIS and Viewpoint systems
- Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
- Able to analyse statistics accurately and objectively
- An understanding of the National and local policies and guidelines in relation to medical ultrasound
- Ability to deliver against agreed performance targets
