Are you interested in joining a rapidly expanding Interventional Radiology department? We are offering a fantastic career opportunity to a suitably qualified nurse.

Our leading specialist radiology department is looking for enthusiastic and capable Staff Nurses to be a part of our highly specialised team.

Barts Health NHS Trust provides the largest trauma service in the UK and interventional radiology is an integral part of that. We use the latest techniques and minimally invasive procedures to provide very safe and effective patient care. Our very busy department is part of one of the most comprehensive imaging departments in London and all of our staff work closely together to continually provide a high standard of patient care.

We can offer you the opportunity to work within different clinical areas such as Interventional Radiology Theatre, Recovery suite, CT, Ultrasound. The role of the interventional radiology nurse will include scrubbing and circulating during procedures. Rotation into the Recovery area will afford opportunities to expand your knowledge in caring for patients post local anaesthetic and conscious sedation.

We are looking for Staff Nurses who have very good communication skills, are flexible and helpful and would like to become valued members of our team. You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team; your role will include covering the on-call rota once you have completed the 6 months competency programme for new starters.

Main duties of the job

To Provide and maintain the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care within the radiology department and in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.

To undertake radiology procedures in the delivery of patient care, pre, peri-op and post procedure of diagnostics and/or intervention.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continuing education
  • Intravenous accreditation
Desirable criteria
  • Sedation Course, Intermediate Life Support Qualification, Radiology Course or Equivalent
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in the nursing management of medical and surgical patients post nursing qualification
  • Evidence of understanding and insight into current nursing and NHS issues
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in mentoring
  • Theatre and/or Scrub experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to undertake the higher level clinical skills required for the specialist area
