Job overview

This is a training post designed to give the trainee the experience and knowledge to be able to qualify & work as a Pharmacy Technician and is a stepping stone to a wider career in Pharmacy. The apprentice is supported throughout training and work experience, and with support, will learn to complete a range of tasks within timescales to a competent standard.

You will undertake and complete the Level 3 NVQ in pharmacy services. 

This will involve working with an assessor to develop a work-based portfolio; undertaking work based assessments, completing all assignments/projects relating to the  NVQ units and presenting evidence portfolios for assessment within specified time frames.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week and includes working Saturdays, Bank Holidays and Late Duty as per the rota.

Main duties of the job

Some of the main duties  are:

  • To participate in the dispensing process of labelling, assembling and preparing prescription
  • To participate in the daily Rolling Stock Take process. 
  • To work on pharmacy reception as required taking in prescription requests.
  • To process incoming orders, check orders against delivery notes, return incorrect  items to suppliers and put stock away incorporating good stock rotation. 
  • To contribute to the smooth running of the Pharmacy department and participate in the late duty, Saturday, bank holidays and Late Duty duty as per rota.
