We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Research Fellow in Neonatology to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at King’s College Hospital. The post offers the opportunity to undertake research in Neonatology and advance the successful candidate’s neonatal training and administrative skills in a teaching hospital environment.
Main duties of the job
This post is suitable for Paediatric Doctors who have a minimum of two years postgraduate experience, one of the years must have been spent in appropriate neonatal training posts in neonatal intensive care units. MRCP/MRCPCH or equivalent is essential.

Essential criteria
- Registerable medical qualification.
Higher Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCPH or equivalent
Registration
Essential criteria
- Full registration with GMC/GDC with License to Practice.
Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide experience in all aspects of Paediatrics, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent.
- Specialist training in Paediatrics
Administration
Essential criteria
- Experience in day to day organisation of Neonatal services in a busy Teaching Hospital
Desirable criteria
- Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
Management and Leadership
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
Audit & quality improvement
Essential criteria
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement.
Research
Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead change.
- Experience of conducting or supporting clinical research
Desirable criteria
- Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of Neonatal ventilation.
- Publication of relevant review articles or case reports
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Personal Skills
Essential criteria
- Effective communicator able to work in close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff.
- Flexible and resilient
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
