Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Band 7 Specialist Nurse to join our Travel Medicine team at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the clinical leadership, development, and operational management of the nursing team, contributing to service growth, governance, education, and collaborative partnerships with NHS and private sectors.

Main duties of the job

Experience with PGDs

Experience in leading governance processes including vaccine management

Travel medicine qualification such as ISTM certificate or diploma or SCTM or working towards

The map to all the RCN travel competencies

Leadership and Governance over travel service based within HTD

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Relevant post-registration experience
  • Teaching/Assessment programme
Desirable criteria
  • Completed/completing Masters Degree
  • Leadership/Management Qualification or Experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant post registration experience
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the specialty – Travel Medicine
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and autonomously.
Desirable criteria
  • Completing/Completed Masters Degree

Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of key professional issues and NMC guidelines relating to professional practice
  • Able to respond appropriately to accident or untoward clinical incidents.
  • Participate in and comply with UCLH, and Divisional clinical governance frameworks
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Previous experience of formal & informal teaching of patients & staff
  • Understanding of relevant national strategy / policy and how this relates to the service
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of developing standards, guidelines and policies
  • Previous experience in budgetary management
  • Innovative approach to service Delivery and change
