Job overview

The Project Manager will work with the CDC Senior Operations Manager and Speciality Leads to facilitate, support, and monitor the delivery of new patient pathways being introduced into the CDCs at JPUH and the Northgate Hospital site.  There are five new pathways requiring support which are, breathlessness, Children and Young Peoples Asthma, hearing loss, liver pathway and capsular endoscopy.

The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that each scheme, project or programme under their sole responsibility, is set up in line with the PMO’s standards, involve all the relevant stakeholder holders, completion of Trust’s documentation and each scheme is quality and risk assessed before commencement.

The prime responsibility of this post will be to support the individual specialities to deliver the benefits from each of the agreed schemes, and this will include improving patient care and safety and other service improvements.   The Project Manager will also be expected to challenge the delivery owners to ensure that the schemes, projects and / or programmes are delivered within the agreed financial package allocated and are completed within the timescales or milestones agreed with the nominated leads.  In addition, the Project Manager will be responsible for generating new ideas or ways of working to enable systems and processes to work more effectively.

Main duties of the job

  1. Manage each project to conform to industry standard / best practice techniques (e.g. Prince2 Project Management, LEAN). 
  2. Complete project plan documentation detailing the activities required to achieve the agreed benefits, completion of the quality and risk assessment documentation etc. 
  3. Monitor the progress of the CDC pathways and maintain an accurate dashboard with timelines 
  4. Manages all pathways through to delivery, adjusting project plans in line with changing needs and requirements.  Manages a series of concurrent projects directly and indirectly via the nominated speciality leads. 
  5. Interpret the service needs of all relevant hospital departments and work at all levels within the organisation with clinical staff and heads of departments to agree detailed project or programme requirements, including phasing of the work required. 
  6. Manage all project associated meetings, and report or take action as required by these groups. 
  7. Use communication skills appropriate to staff at all levels.
  8. Collate daily / weekly (as required) reports on progress of all projects and provide feedback to stakeholders, CDC Senior Operations Manager, CDC SRO and to NHSE when required. 
  9. Communicate and liaise with all members of the PMO Team as well as other internal and external stakeholders linked to the project.

  • Organise meetings as required and ensure that all the required paperwork is available
  • Engage with all of the projects stakeholders to ensure a timely deliverance of services
  • Closely monitor the project performance and report any exceptions or non delivery to the CDC Programme Lead

Essential criteria
  • Project Manager accreditation or relevant experience
  • Relevant Post Graduate training and experience equivalent to Masters

  • Experience of working across multi disciplinary teams

Knowelge and skills

  • Evidence of good communication skills across multiple stakeholders
