NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Would you like to be part of the highly regarded ‘trail blazing’ NNUH Virtual Ward Team? We are looking for a forward-thinking individual to lead and develop pharmacy services to our virtual ward. Established in January 2021, the NNUH Virtual ward is gaining recognition and interest both regionally and nationally as a highly innovative and successful service.
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a forward-thinking teaching hospital offering acute care to a population of approximately one million. We are one of the largest acute teaching hospitals in the UK with strong links to both the School of Pharmacy and the Medical School at the nearby University of East Anglia. Electronic prescribing has been implemented across all inpatient wards, the A&E and outpatients. We are at the forefront of healthcare delivery with a strong focus on Medicines Management and innovative pharmaceutical practice.

Main duties of the job
As the successful applicant you will join the virtual ward team to help ensure excellent medicines optimisation for our patients and provide a high level of medicines governance/oversight and support to the entire MDT. You will need to have a wide-ranging clinical experience surrounding the use of medicines to enable you to provide a high level of care to patients from the ever-expanding scope of clinical specialties that use the virtual ward. Being an independent prescriber is important, and willing to develop scope of practice with the support of the existing MDT. You will attend daily MDT ward rounds and support prescribing.
Applicants will be self-motivated, able to work independently and capable of working under pressure. The successful candidate must have excellent IT, communication, and organisational skills.
This is a fixed term contract to provide maternity cover for the current post-holder. Core hours to be worked Monday to Friday with requirement to work weekends and bank holidays in line with Departmental rotas. Flexible working opportunities are supported on application.
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
