Call Handler/Administrator - Apprenticeship Opportunity

NHS AfC: Band 2

Job overview

Due to the continued expansion of the Single Point of Access  team to include the RDaSH Neuro rehabilitation services.  The Physical Health and Neurodiversity Care Group is looking to appoint  highly motivated and enthusiastic call handler within the team.

Full time (37.5 hours).

Successful candidates will be supporting a large number of multi-disciplinary services, including mental health,  physical health and neurodiversity.  Successful candidates would be required to work a variety of shifts covering a 24 hour rota to ensure effective service delivery.

If you don't already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2 apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].

As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation.  Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.  This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.

Main duties of the job

As the first point of contact for our service users and other professionals, you will need to have excellent customer service skills and a helpful and friendly approach.

It is important that you are able to work effectively in a fast paced office environment, handling large volumes of telephone calls, some of which may be challenging  and emotive . You will need to be flexible and adaptable to the varying demands and changing circumstances and priorities of the services. Communication and team working are essential qualities to succeed in this role.

You should be able to use a PC and standard software packages including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. SystmOne experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given.

Desirable requirements for this post are a good standard of education (5 GCSE’s including Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent), experience of working in a call handling environment or previous experience of working in the NHS would be advantageous.

Please note this is primarily an office based role which may on occasion require agile/home working.
