Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated radiographer to join our CT, Interventional, Cardiac Cath Lab and Fluoroscopic Imaging service.
This is a fixed term post with potential to become a permanent role when the fixed term ends.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team and expand your clinical expertise. We are a busy GDH with a leading Oncology Centre and a minimal invasive Cardiac Unit offering both Cardiac MRI and CT.
This Band 6 rotation has been specifically formulated to appeal to radiographers whose interest lies in interventional procedures and will allow rotation through our CT scanners, Fluoroscopy room, Interventional Radiology suite and Cardiac theatre. This post requires a rotational on call commitment.
Radiology has an established Interventional and fluoroscopic service.
We have an excellent interventional team comprised of radiographers, nurses, administration, registrars and Consultants. You will play a key role in this multidisciplinary team and will also attend relevant operational meetings.
The post involves undertaking CT, specialist interventional, cardiac and fluoroscopic examinations. In IR, we perform numerous procedures but not limited to PTCs, ureteric stents, fibroid embolisations, RIGs, portacath procedures as well as percutaneous chemo-embolisations (TACE & SIRTs). The Cardiac Cath Lab runs a Monday-Friday diagnostic service and liaises closely with other local hospitals for those needing interventional procedures.
Main duties of the job
• To work as part of a multidisciplinary team that undertakes diagnostic radiographic procedures in a timely fashion in keeping with established protocol, within designated areas.
• To participate in on-call duties and extended working days as required with a view to participating in the 7 day working week.
• Work independently when providing an on-call service to patients requiring urgent imaging due to trauma or acute illness.
• Demonstrate levels of responsibility and initiative to assist radiologists during radiological investigations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records to reflect the service provided and meet professional standards.
• Supervise junior radiographers, support ancillary staff and students, as required.
• To promote a patient focused imaging service in a caring environment and facilitate collaborative working relationships with all other departments within the trust.
• Demonstrate, maintain & update skills & knowledge of evolving practice & legislative requirements and undertake specialist training as appropriate to the post.
