Job overview

 The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Risk Management and Head of Patient Safety in ensuring information held within Datixweb (Risk Management software) is used in a way which informs and progresses practice within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure adverse events are accurately data quality checked on the Trust risk management database (DATIX) in a timely fashion, ensuring compliance with NHS Englands Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE)
  • To follow departmental processes for the follow up of investigation of events, both internally and with external stakeholders
  • To be responsible for the design, production and co-ordination of quality reports to departments within the Trust.
  • The post holder will be required to carry out own duties independently within departmental procedures with the line manager available for reference.

Essential criteria
  • • ECDL or equivalent computer literacy with experience of MS Office (word/excel/PowerPoint and e-mail).
  • • GCSE C pass or equivalent in English Language
  • • Experience in collecting, collating and reporting routine and simple data and information.
  • • Experience of administrative duties, ie minute taking, setting meeting agendas.
  • • Experience in prioritisation of own workload. Assuring the quality and integrity of data inputted.
  • • Understanding of the importance of patient and staff confidentiality
  • • Effective communication skills in all forms
  • Ability to provide analysis on often complex incident data and produce reports in an accessible format
  • • Team player that can work on own initiative.
  • • Quality checking of adverse events on Datixweb for substantial periods of time.
  • • Able to re-set priorities due to regular interruptions from health care professionals with queries or information, and also at the request from Risk Manager, Head of Patient Safety and Datix Administrator.
  • • To be able to acknowledge your limitations when dealing with emotive issues.
Desirable criteria
  • • Use of hospital Lorenzo system
  • • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • • Knowledge of hospital management systems ie Local Risk Management software, Lorenzo (EPR), MLE.
