Job overview
Welcome to Public Health Wales, the Welsh national public health agency, where we are working to achieve a healthier future for Wales.
Do you believe that the people of Wales should enjoy the highest quality public services? Do you have expert knowledge of GDPR? Are you passionate about privacy? If so, there is an exciting opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge in the Information Governance Service within Public Health Wales NHS Trust.
The Information Governance Service exists to support the organisation to delivering high quality services across the whole agenda of public health, whilst processing the population’s personal data fairly, safely and lawfully in compliance with all relevant legislation. Due to increasing workloads, a vacancy has arisen for another Information Governance Manager to join the small team. The successful candidate will be an expert in the broad field of information governance with a strong understanding of the principles of information security and risk management.
Main duties of the job
You will be an inquisitive and highly organised individual, with a strong background in the UK data protection legislative framework, who is highly motivated and delivery focussed, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your previous experience will enable you to deal with the complex privacy and data protection challenges that the delivery of our new strategy will bring, as we move further into the technological and ethical challenges of concepts such as artificial intelligence. You will be comfortable dealing at all levels of a complex organisation, from Board to ‘shop floor’, and your expert knowledge of the legislation will allow you to present compelling and convincing arguments.
Working under the direction of the Head of Information Governance, but with plenty of scope to work autonomously, you will be able to work to deadlines, be able to work on major projects with the ability to use your own initiative and judgment when required, operating effectively as part of a small and dedicated team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
