Physiotherapist (Rotational)

Band 5

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Band 5 Physiotherapy North Rotation and West/ Coastal at Sussex Community Foundation Trust (SCFT)

If you are an ambitious, proactive Physiotherapist looking to be part of a supportive Trust, using your skills to provide excellent community care, we’d love to hear from you.

Here at SCFT our aim is to maximise opportunities for the people living in our communities to be as independent as possible in what matters to them. Our Physiotherapy teams support people to live full and active lives within their family circles, social networks, and workplace.

Main duties of the job

This supportive Band 5 Physiotherapy rotation aims to help you through the transition from student to skilled therapist and we welcome applications from candidates who are close to graduation or awaiting confirmation of HCPC registration post-graduation, in addition to those with some previous Band 5 experience.

You will have a supervised caseload and a programme of continuing professional development to assist in your progression. The rotations enable newly qualified Physiotherapists to develop skills and competencies beyond graduate level in a variety of clinical specialties across inpatient, outpatient and community roles.

Specialities available on this rotation include:

  • Musculoskeletal Outpatients

  • Intermediate Care Units- Inpatient Rehabilitation

  • Paediatrics- Community and/or MSK

  • Neurological Inpatient Rehabilitation (Stroke - North only)

  • Community Therapy Team (You will need to be able to drive with a full UK licence for home visits)

Hours of work for full time staff are 37.5hrs per week- primarily arranged according to service requirements, which may require a degree of flexibility depending on the service. Hours will primarily be within 07:30 and 20:00 with the potential to work the hours in different arrangements over the 7 days of the week. SCFT remains committed to flexible working policies and aims to help individuals achieve a strong work/life balance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Rotations are 6 months in length and are based around our geographical areas: West and Coastal (Chichester, Arundel, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, Worthing)  North (Mid-Sussex, Crawley, Horsham).

These geographical rotation areas are set up to help limit the travel distances involved for our staff, however, if you have a particular interest in undertaking a rotation outside of your ‘home’ rotation, all requests will be considered.

If this is your first Band 5 post since graduating, you will be invited to take part in our preceptorship programme. The preceptorship is a structured scheme lasting 12 months, which aims:

To successfully help new starters integrate into their new role

To build confidence and competence

To help you on your way to settling in well to your new career with SCFT

To facilitate your journey to a fully autonomous practitioner.
