Our brand new Children's Emergency Unit is looking children’s nurses to join us. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team assisting in providing high quality paediatric care and excellent patient experience.
We are looking for dynamic, motivated, and dedicated Children's Nurses with a passion for Emergency Care. You will be working with an amazing multidisciplinary team, including youth workers, mental health teams, safeguarding nurses and Paediatric Emergency physicians.
We will support you in developing your clinical skills and competencies with our experienced team of paediatric nurses and clinical practice facilitators, with a variety of inhouse courses such as plastering, cannulation and opportunity for EPALS. We believe in supporting our staff to grow and develop to fulfil their potential.
Our new Children's Emergency Unit is a brand-new concept where the vision is to include part of the paediatric assessment unit and Urgent Treatment Centre moving forwards. It opened in November 2024 and since then has grown from strength to strength. It includes its own resus, high dependency rooms, telemetry monitoring, a sensory room, mental health space to names but a few. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care to a defined patient group either within the acute hospital or community based setting. They are responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role. The post holder will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes. The post holder will be expected to continue with their own professional development.

Our Emergency department provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with emergency conditions, serious injuries or illnesses as well as minor injuries. It is a very busy department, with 78,000 patients being treated in the past 12 months. We are looking for experienced Children’s Staff Nurses to join our dynamic and supportive team to further develop our services and provide the highest standards of patient care.
As an Children’s Nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care within our brand new Children's Emergency Unit. It is a purpose built Unit with a sensory room, 2 high dependency cubicles and its own resus. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs, ensuring patient safety and dignity is maintained at all times.
The successful applicant will be required to work in all areas within the department and demonstrate a professional manner, clinical expertise with good communication skills in all aspects of their work. You must be comfortable working in a busy environment juggling the different demands typical of a nursing role like this and must possess the courage to do what is right for our patients.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- First Level Registered Children's Nurse
- Current/live registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 Safeguarding Children
- FLAP Course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience nursing children in an acute / community setting or recently completed a Return to Paediatric Nursing course
- Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing knowledge and practice after qualification and Preceptorship
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to document details clearly and accurately
- IT Literate
- Good interpersonal skills and is able to deal with difficult/sensitive situations
- Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
- Willingness to undertake training and assessment for further clinical skills.
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of the structure for the delivery for Community and social care services
