Job overview

There has never been a more exciting time to apply for a Student Nursing Associate Apprenticeship role at Sirona Care and Health . The Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship is a 24 month training course that is being offered in collaboration with Higher Education Institutes.

This is a developmental role. You will work towards progression into the post of Nursing Associate through successful completion of the Nursing Associate training programme which includes the attainment of a level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification. You will develop within this post commencing on a fixed term Band 3 AFC until completion of the Apprenticeship where you will be eligible to move to Band 4 AFC.

All apprentices will need to interview for available posts after completing the apprenticeship which lasts up to 2 years. Only apprentices who successfully complete the apprenticeship and pass an interview will be offered a permanent B4 AFC contract.

You will be supported by a wealth of clinically experienced Nurses in one of our Community Integrated Network Teams.

The Nursing Associate programme combines both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and Higher Education Institutes. A trainee Nursing Associate will be based, as an employee in a team, working as part of the multi disciplinary team that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements.

Main duties of the job

Nursing Associate is a stand-alone role that will also provide a progression route into graduate level nursing.  The standards for proficiency are set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Successful completion of this apprenticeship will meet the education requirements for registration with the NMC. This standard covers the NMC Standards for Proficiency and Annexes A & B for nursing associates.

Nursing associates contribute to the promotion of health, health protection and the prevention of ill health. They do this by empowering people and communities to exercise choice, take control of their own health decisions and behaviours and by supporting people to manage their own care where possible. In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with a variety of service users, families and carers, and with an extensive range of health and care professionals and other agencies including social services, police, probation, prisons, housing, education, language interpreters and third sector agencies. They might be working in a health, social care or public health provider and may work various shift patterns which enable care to be provided 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days of the year.
